How Your Data Is Handled

A plain-language walkthrough of how your data flows within LitMemo

The Short Version

1. Your creative content is stored on our servers and is accessible only to you when you sign in to your account.

2. When you use AI features, the relevant content is sent to the third-party cloud platform Google Cloud Vertex AI for processing; under its current API terms, it is not used to train AI models.

3. You can turn off AI features at any time, and once off, no content is sent to any third-party AI service.

4. We will not sell your data or use your content for any purpose without your consent.

01Everyday use: where is your data?

When you write, create characters, and edit settings on LitMemo:

That's it. Your content is transmitted encrypted from your browser to our servers and saved to the database. It doesn't go anywhere else.

02When you use AI features: how does the data flow?

When you use AI chat, consistency checking, or AI extraction:

What is sent?

  • • AI chat: your conversation messages + summaries of the relevant chapters and materials
  • • Consistency check: your character profiles, settings entries, and chapter content
  • • AI extraction: your chapter content (used to extract characters and settings)

What does the AI provider do with this data?

As of the date this page was last updated, under Google Cloud Vertex AI's API terms: the data is used only to process your request and return the result. It is not used to train models. Third-party policies may change; if there is a significant change, we will notify users.

03Don't want to use AI? No problem at all

In the avatar dropdown menu in your account settings, you can turn off AI features with one click.

Once turned off:

  • None of your content is sent to any third-party AI service
  • The AI chat, consistency check, and AI extraction features are hidden
  • All other features (writing, character management, timelines, etc.) are completely unaffected

You can turn it back on at any time.

04What We Won't Do

  • Use your work to train AI models
  • Sell your personal information or creative content
  • Proactively read your creative content (we have no reason to look at your work, and we don't)
  • Share your data with third parties without your consent
  • Secretly send any content while AI is turned off

05FAQ

Q: Could my work show up in AI-generated content?

Under each AI provider's current API terms, data sent through the paid API is not used to train models, so your content won't influence the AI's responses to other people.

Q: Does turning off AI affect content I've already saved?

Not at all. Turning off AI simply stops communication with third-party AI services; all your data stays safely where it is.

Q: Can I request that all my data be deleted?

Yes. Please contact us through the Support Center.

Q: What if the AI provider changes its policy?

If an AI provider makes a significant change to its data policy, we will assess the impact as soon as possible, notify users, and take appropriate measures as needed.
